Malicious App Detection Feature Used as FDS
218 Cases Prevented in One Year
Shinhan Card announced on July 11 that it had preemptively detected 218 cases of voice phishing over the past year through Shinhan SOL Pay, preventing approximately 3.5 billion KRW in customer losses.
Shinhan SOL Pay is equipped with the 'Phishing Eyes' in-app feature, which can detect malicious apps such as remote control apps, tampered apps, and smishing attempts. This feature operates even when Shinhan SOL Pay is not actively running.
Shinhan Card utilizes this as a Fraud Detection System (FDS), alerting customers to potential risks and thereby preventing financial damage.
Phishing Eyes is a voice phishing prevention app jointly developed by Shinhan Card and InfiniGroo, a financial solutions specialist. InfiniGroo is a startup that originated from Shinhan Card’s in-house venture and startup incubation program, I’m Ventures.
Additionally, Shinhan Card offers services free of charge such as 'Family Phishing Guardian,' which notifies both the user and their connected family members if a malicious app is detected on their smartphone, and 'Shinhan SOL Protects You,' which preemptively detects suspicious transactions for senior customers and provides support in the event of financial damage.
