On July 11, Ansan City announced the final selection of the “Ansan 12 Scenic Spots,” which features representative tourist destinations for both citizens and visitors to enjoy. Through this selection, the city incorporated Nojeokbong Park (Waterfall), which was originally listed as part of the “Ansan 9 Scenic Spots,” into the Kim Hongdo-gil, and added four new attractions.
The city explained that the selection of the “Ansan 12 Scenic Spots” focused on moving beyond the previously Daebudo-centered tourist sites to discover a variety of tourism resources in the downtown and urban areas, aiming to promote balanced regional tourism development and highlight new charms of Ansan.
Earlier, starting in February this year, the city conducted a first-round survey, followed by a second nationwide preference survey and a review by the selection committee, before finalizing the twelve scenic spots.
The Ansan 12 Scenic Spots now include the existing ▲Sihwa Lake Tidal Power Plant ▲Daebu Haesol-gil ▲Gubongdo Sunset ▲Tando Sea Road ▲Pungdo ▲Dongju Salt Field ▲Ansan Reed Wetland ▲Multicultural Street, as well as the newly added ▲Kim Hongdo-gil (including Nojeokbong Park) ▲Suam Peak and Ansan Eupseong Fortress ▲Lake Park and Mugunghwa Hill ▲Badahyanggi Arboretum.
In particular, the city emphasized that the newly selected “Kim Hongdo-gil” forms a unique Ansan tourist route where art and nature harmonize, connecting the Kim Hongdo Art Museum, Nojeokbong Park, Danwon Sculpture Park, Seongho Museum, and Ansan Botanical Garden. “Suam Peak and Ansan Eupseong Fortress,” “Lake Park and Mugunghwa Hill,” and “Badahyanggi Arboretum” have been recognized as attractions encompassing a variety of themes such as history, culture, ecology, and the ocean.
Based on the selection of these twelve scenic spots, the city plans to promote a variety of programs and marketing campaigns to revitalize tourism in connection with the local commercial districts and to further develop Ansan as a destination for extended stays.
Lee Minguen, Mayor of Ansan, stated, “Going forward, we will focus on revitalizing tourism in connection with the local commercial districts and widely promoting the appeal of Ansan.”
