Thorough Implementation of the Five Basic Heatwave Safety Rules, Including Regular Breaks, Strongly Emphasized
The Yangsan Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (headed by Kwon Guhyung) has launched on-site inspections targeting distribution companies with a high volume of outdoor work, in response to the ongoing heatwave.
On July 10, the Yangsan Branch visited a large distribution company located in Gimhae to check whether the "Five Basic Heatwave Safety Rules" (water, shade, rest, cooling equipment, and emergency measures) were being implemented.

This workplace requires particular attention to heatwave management, as it involves a significant amount of outdoor work such as organizing shopping carts, directing parking, security, and environmental cleaning.
Kwon Guhyung, head of the branch, emphasized, "In a situation where heatwave warnings are being continuously issued, measures to ensure workers' safety are not optional but essential," and added, "Even if there is shade, cooling equipment and similar items must be provided to help lower workers' body temperatures."
Until the end of September, the Ministry of Employment and Labor will focus its inspections on high-risk workplaces for heatwaves, such as those in construction, logistics, shipbuilding, and agriculture and livestock industries, to check the implementation of the "Five Basic Heatwave Safety Rules."
Additionally, the ministry plans to establish a cooperative system with local fire stations and municipal governments to immediately conduct emergency on-site inspections if cases of heat-related illness occur.
On the same day, Kwon also visited a slaughter and processing plant in Gimhae to directly check on the preventive measures against heat-related illnesses.
