Direct On-Site Evaluation of Policies
Verifying the Effectiveness of Job Fair Operations
On July 9, the 'Citizen Municipal Affairs Evaluation Group,' operated by Gimcheon City in North Gyeongsang Province to enhance policy transparency and consumer-oriented administration, held its regular meeting and began conducting ad hoc evaluation activities.
The event took place in the auditorium on the second floor of City Hall and at the Comprehensive Welfare Center for Workers, serving as a venue for citizens to directly assess the outcomes of municipal administration and suggest directions for improvement.
The Citizen Municipal Affairs Evaluation Group consists of 50 ordinary citizens divided into five subcommittees: Administrative Welfare, Economic Industry, Construction Safety, Agriculture, and Health. It has established itself as a citizen participation body that reflects diverse perspectives on major policies and projects promoted by the city and encourages practical policy improvements.
During the regular meeting, a comprehensive report on the 2024 activities was presented, and plans and directions for the 2025 evaluation operations were established.
Additionally, the evaluation group visited the site of the 'Monthly Successful Employment Smart Matching Job Fair,' which was selected as a subject for ad hoc evaluation in the first half of the year, to experience its operations firsthand and conduct an in-depth assessment.
Members personally participated in various side programs at the job fair, such as job seeker and employer consultation booths, resume photo booths, and employment tarot reading booths, analyzing citizen satisfaction, effectiveness, and operational appropriateness from multiple angles.
Suggestions proposed through subcommittee discussions will be delivered to relevant departments for review regarding their incorporation into policy, and the results will be fed back to the evaluation group.
An official from Gimcheon City stated, "The citizens' perspective is a valuable asset that sheds light on blind spots that the administration may overlook," adding, "We will continue to pursue responsible administration so that the opinions of citizens, as beneficiaries of policy, can be meaningfully reflected in municipal governance."
Meanwhile, the evaluation group played a pivotal role last year by conducting a total of five ad hoc evaluations and one regular evaluation, identifying a variety of improvement tasks related to the transparency and public nature of municipal administration.
Gimcheon City plans to continue strengthening its policy operation foundation with on-site effectiveness and citizen participation through citizen-led administration.
