Governor Kim Youngrok Holds 'Lunchbox Meeting' with Department Heads to Review Key Issues Jeollanam-do Governor Kim Youngrok is discussing current provincial administration issues related to the 500,000 population in the southwestern region and the energy innovation growth belt during the 'Provincial Administration Current Issues Discussion Meeting' held in the Jeong Yak-yong Room at the provincial office on the 10th, having lunch with department heads using lunch boxes. Governor Kim Youngrok of Jeollanam-do, taking into account the busy schedules of each department due to the recent launch of the new government and preparations for summer disasters, held a lunchbox meeting with department heads on the 10th.

Jeollanam-do is currently operating in an all-hands-on-deck mode, though not officially declared, as all departments are overwhelmed by the need to incorporate key provincial issues into the new government’s national agenda, prepare for natural disasters such as heat waves, and respond to provincial assembly inquiries.

In particular, as Governor Kim has repeatedly emphasized prompt action and on-site field administration, department heads are busy balancing internal administrative work and field communication, making it difficult to coordinate a time for executive meetings.

Therefore, after attending the provincial assembly plenary session in the morning, Governor Kim used the short lunch break in his packed schedule?which also included the regular meeting of the provincial citizen evaluation group and on-site inspections in preparation for the opening of the Namhae Line?to hold a lunchbox meeting with department heads in the Wangin Room at the provincial office.

This was based on the recognition that there is an urgent need to quickly establish concrete implementation plans to ensure that key provincial projects?such as the 500,000 population innovation growth belt in the southwestern region and the creation of the Gwangyang-Suncheon advanced materials national industrial complex?are reflected in the new government’s national agenda, and that strategic meetings cannot be postponed even for a day.

During the meeting, a wide range of topics were discussed, including the early establishment of the Solaseado power grid, the creation of support piers and hinterland complexes for offshore wind power, the designation of joint offshore wind connection facilities as part of the national power grid and related fiscal support, incentives to be included in the special law for the Renewable Energy 100 (RE100) industrial complex, the creation of the Gwangyang-Suncheon advanced materials national industrial complex, and the establishment of a second space center within the space launch vehicle special zone.

Governor Kim stated, "Now is the time for all of us to unite our efforts to realize a Jeollanam-do where everyone is happy, leaving no resident behind, by adhering to a resident-first principle, carefully examining the realities of daily life, and discovering and implementing policies that truly resonate with the people." He added, "Let every public official work on the ground with speed and determination, so that we can fully usher in the era of 'OK, Now is Jeonnam’s Time.'"
