Cheongdo County in Gyeongsangbuk-do (County Governor Kim Hasu) and Dongdaemun District in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Philhyeong) held a signing ceremony for a sister city agreement on July 10, officially establishing a sustainable and mutually beneficial cooperation system based on friendship and trust between the two regions.
The signing ceremony took place in the main conference room of Cheongdo County Office and was attended by key officials from both local governments, proceeding successfully.

The purpose of this agreement is to achieve co-prosperity and development between the regions by promoting comprehensive and practical cooperation that transcends the boundaries between urban and rural areas, in various fields including administration, economy, culture, and tourism.
Dongdaemun District, Seoul Special City, which will expand exchanges with Cheongdo County, is located in the eastern center of Seoul and has a population of approximately 340,000. It is a place where historic cultural heritage sites such as Seonnongdan coexist with advanced industrial complexes.
It is also an educational hub, home to leading higher education institutions such as the University of Seoul, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and Kyung Hee University.
After the ceremony, the delegation from Dongdaemun District visited 'Cheongdo Sinhwarang Pungnyu Village,' a representative tourist attraction in Cheongdo County, where they directly experienced tourism resources that harmonize tradition and modernity, and had the opportunity to vividly experience the charm of Cheongdo's cultural and tourism content and unique local assets.
This on-site visit served as a meaningful occasion to concretely explore the potential for mutual cooperation between urban and rural areas through tourism resources.
Kim Hasu, Governor of Cheongdo County, stated, "I am honored that Cheongdo County and Dongdaemun District have established a sister city relationship," and added, "I hope that this agreement will serve as an opportunity for both regions to continue practical exchanges in various fields based on each other's unique characteristics and strengths, leading to mutual understanding and joint development."
In response, Lee Philhyeong, Mayor of Dongdaemun District, said, "I believe that the sister city agreement with Cheongdo County has laid the foundation for cooperation in various fields between the two regions," and continued, "Going forward, we will introduce Cheongdo County's excellent agricultural products and cultural resources to our residents and continue practical exchanges that benefit both sides."
