Kim Dongyeon Meets with Religious Leaders: "Guide Us in Creating a More Humane Society"

Gyeonggi Province Governor Dongyeon Kim held a luncheon meeting with religious leaders from the three major religious groups in Gyeonggi Province at Dodamso (the former official residence of the Gyeonggi Governor) on the 10th, reaffirming his commitment to communication and cooperation with the religious community.

The meeting was attended by about 10 key figures from the religious sector, including Kim Youngjin, President of the Gyeonggi Religious Leaders Council; Yoon Hokyun, President of the Gyeonggi Christian Council; Venerable Seonghyo, Chief Monk of Yongjusa Temple of the Jogye Order; Venerable Hyangseong, Director of Planning at Bongseonsa Temple; Bishop Lee Yonghoon, head of the Suwon Diocese of the Catholic Church; and Father Lee Junghoon, Vicar General of the Uijeongbu Diocese.

Governor Kim stated, "Although the country is gradually finding its footing, there still seem to be many challenges to solve," and added, "I hope you will continue to provide guidance so that we can heal the wounds and conflicts among our residents and citizens, eliminate hostility toward those who are not on our side, and create a harmonious and humane society together."

Kim Youngjin, President of the Gyeonggi Religious Leaders Council, responded, "I hope our country becomes a better place by embracing and understanding one another," and added, "Let the three major religions unite and cooperate for the nation, the people, and Gyeonggi Province."

The Gyeonggi Religious Leaders Council has been engaged in various activities for interfaith harmony, social solidarity, and integration since its establishment in 2012. It promotes a wide range of programs, including a religious leaders mentoring project, joint pilgrimages for religious harmony, and harmony festivals for religious figures.

Before the meeting, Governor Kim presented commendations to six religious leaders who had served as outstanding mentors to help promote emotional stability among staff at the provincial government and public institutions.
