Damyang County in South Jeolla Province, led by County Governor Jeong Cheolwon, announced on July 10 that it had successfully concluded the "Home Repair Support Team Program," which had been ongoing since May.
This program, organized annually by the Changpyeong-myeon Urban Regeneration Field Support Center, provides practical, everyday-focused technical training to help residents repair aging homes on their own.
This year, the program consisted of a total of 10 sessions held at the Slow City Training Center and throughout the Changpyeong-myeon urban regeneration project area. The curriculum included training on tile and grout, interior film (sheet), basic plastering and painting, on-site home repair practice, hygiene management, and furniture repair and DIY woodworking.
Through hands-on practice, participants learned not only home repair skills but also daily life skills such as hygiene management and furniture maintenance. The county expects that this training will serve as a foundation for establishing a resident-led social cooperative for village management and creating local jobs in the future.
One participant in the program shared, "I always wanted to fix up my house but hesitated because I didn't know where to start. Thanks to this training, I was able to learn the necessary skills myself. Now, I feel confident that I can handle simple repairs on my own."
