"Bus Fares to Increase" ... Changwon Special City to Raise Public Transportation Bus Fares from August 1

200 Won Increase for Adults, 150 Won for Youth and Children

Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province will increase public transportation bus fares starting August 1, 2025.

"Bus Fares to Increase" ... Changwon Special City to Raise Public Transportation Bus Fares from August 1

This fare increase was finalized after a review by the South Gyeongsang Province Consumer Policy Committee, marking the first increase in 5 years and 7 months since January 2020.

The adjusted fares are as follows: general fares for city buses, express buses, and village buses will each increase by 200 won; for youth and children, city and village bus fares will increase by 100 won, while express bus fares will increase by 150 won.

The main reasons for this fare increase are rising labor costs for bus companies and overall inflation. The city expects this measure to help secure the financial stability of transportation companies and improve the quality of public transportation services.

The increased fares will take effect from the first bus on August 1, 2025. In addition, the Gyeongnam-type public transportation reimbursement support program (Gyeongnam Pass) will remain unchanged after the fare increase, so citizens will continue to receive the same reimbursement benefits as before.

Lee Jonggeun, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau, stated, "There may be some burden due to the fare increase, but we ask for your understanding as this is an essential measure for sustainable public transportation services. We will continue to do our best to ensure that citizens can use public transportation safely and conveniently."
