At the Democratic Party's policy coordination meeting held at the main building of the National Assembly in Yeouido on July 10, Kim Byungki, acting party leader and floor leader, commented on Yoon's re-arrest, saying, "Although it is much delayed, justice has finally been served." He added, "The special prosecutor investigating the rebellion must conduct a swift and thorough investigation to fully reveal the crimes committed by Yoon Sukyeol and the rebellion group."
Kim further stated, "The ringleader of the rebellion, Yoon Sukyeol, and his group must be given the maximum sentence under the law as soon as possible, so that the dignity of the Constitution and democracy of the Republic of Korea can be restored."
Park Sanghyuk, chief spokesperson for the Democratic Party, said in a written briefing, "The arrest of Yoon Sukyeol is a reasonable decision to uphold justice," and emphasized, "We must complete the normalization of state affairs by strictly punishing the forces behind the rebellion."
Song Eonseok, acting chairman and floor leader of the People Power Party's emergency committee, met with reporters after the emergency committee meeting at the National Assembly that day and said, "We feel deeply sorry to the people for the unfortunate situation in which a former president has been arrested and detained once again." He added, "It is truly a regrettable event." However, he urged, "I hope that the investigation and trial will be conducted fairly and justly in accordance with the law and principles."
