This event was organized to discover and nurture young talents preparing for employment by leveraging the unique characteristics of the industry, amid worsening youth unemployment due to the economic downturn. Since 2023, Lotte Homeshopping has been operating the "University Student Overseas Training Group" program in partnership with the Korea Distribution Association. The program is designed to provide field experience to university students who wish to work in the broadcasting and distribution sectors and to support their job search activities. It features field-oriented education such as overseas market visits and lectures by expert faculty, and covers all expenses including airfare and accommodation. In addition, graduates of the program receive extra points if they apply for internships at Lotte Homeshopping.
In May, Lotte Homeshopping held an open recruitment for participants in the "University Student Overseas Training Group" and selected a final group of 30 students based on their interest in the distribution industry. From July 7, the selected students visited Hangzhou, China for a five-day, four-night program, attended special lectures on the local distribution industry, and toured the world's largest general merchandise market, Yiwu International Trade City. After conducting local market research, the students directly proposed ideas for discovering new products, and the selected ideas will be commercialized through Lotte Homeshopping.
Overseas training in the content sector is also active. Lotte Homeshopping selected 12 outstanding graduates from the fourth class of its "Creator Class," a program for nurturing live commerce professionals, and conducted a four-day, three-night overseas training program in Tokyo, Japan from July 1 to July 4. The participants attended "Content Tokyo 2025," Japan's largest content exhibition, where they explored intellectual property (IP) licensing, broadcast technology, and trends in the creator industry. During the training, they also gained practical experience by selling popular Japanese products such as "Tokyo Banana" and "Senka Cleansing Foam" through a live broadcast on Lotte Homeshopping's live commerce platform "Elive."
Lee Donggyu, Head of Communications at Lotte Homeshopping, said, "Lotte Homeshopping is providing practical opportunities for young people to develop real-world skills on the global stage, going beyond simple overseas training," and added, "We will continue to expand our support so that the next generation of leaders in the broadcasting and distribution industries can gain field experience and take on new challenges."
