The AEO certification is a public-private partnership system adopted by the international community in 2005, centered on the World Customs Organization (WCO), and refers to companies whose safety has been officially recognized by customs authorities. In Korea, the Korea Customs Service certifies export and import companies as AEOs after evaluating their compliance with regulations, internal control systems, financial soundness, and adequacy of safety management.

Ninety-seven countries around the world, including the United States, China, and the EU, have introduced the AEO certification. Companies that obtain the certification can benefit from various customs administrative advantages during import and export clearance, such as reduced inspection rates for import and export goods, expedited customs clearance, and exemption from customs audits, which leads to cost savings.

Twenty-five customs authorities, including those of the United States, China, and Japan, which have signed Mutual Recognition Agreements (AEO MRA) with Korea, also provide the same benefits, enabling faster and safer exports and imports.

Shinsegae International imports and sells more than 30 brands in the fashion and beauty sectors in Korea, and also exports its own fashion and beauty brands. As the company is actively pursuing the global expansion of its beauty brands such as Vidivici, Yunjac, and Amuse from this year, it expects that obtaining AEO certification will significantly strengthen its export competitiveness.

A representative from Shinsegae International stated, "With the acquisition of AEO certification, we are now able to streamline customs procedures, time, and costs in the import and export process," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our capabilities for the global expansion of our brands."
