Kim Dongyeon on Yoon Sukyeol's Re-arrest: "Justice Served... Now Is the Time for Recovery"

Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, described the re-arrest of former President Yoon Sukyeol as "justice served."

On July 10, Governor Kim posted on his social media account, stating, "Yoon Sukyeol's re-arrest is justice served," and added, "There will never again be a situation where the ringleader of a rebellion that destroyed the daily lives of the people brazenly walks the streets."

He continued, "Now is the 'time for recovery,'" and added, "From the impeachment and the birth of a government based on popular sovereignty, to the re-arrest of the ringleader of a rebellion, the international community is praising South Korea's resilience."

Furthermore, he expressed his expectations by saying, "The special prosecutor will serve as a turning point for restoring common sense in South Korea," and "The supplementary budget of the new government will serve as a catalyst for reviving the people's livelihood and the economy."

He especially emphasized, "The Lee Jaemyung administration is rapidly normalizing the national system that had collapsed," and promised, "Gyeonggi Province will do its utmost to restore the daily lives of every citizen in step with the new government."

Meanwhile, former President Yoon Sukyeol was re-arrested by the special prosecutor team led by Cho Eunseok on this day and was re-admitted to the Seoul Detention Center. This comes 124 days after he was released following the court's decision to cancel his detention on March 8. Former President Yoon is expected to continue his incarceration in a solitary cell of about 3 pyeong (approximately 10 square meters).
