Creating a Community-Based Startup Ecosystem
and Supporting Aspiring Entrepreneurs
The Jeonju University Startup Support Group (President Park Jinbae) held the opening ceremony of the 'JB Local Startup Village' on the 9th at 'Moijang' inside Jeonju South Market.
The 'JB Local Startup Village,' part of the 'Local Content-Focused University' project led by Jeonju University, is a startup hub space designed to create a community-based startup ecosystem and support aspiring entrepreneurs. Incubation for the resident startup teams will be provided by Krypton Co., Ltd., the oldest accelerator company in Korea.

About 60 people attended the event, including Kim Sangjin, Head of the Startup Support Group at Jeonju University and General Manager of the Local Content-Focused University Project; Professor Kim Siyeol, Head of the Department of Local Venture at Jeonju University; Assembly members Seo Nani (North Jeolla Provincial Council), Shin Yujeong, and Choi Seoyeon (both Jeonju City Council); Oh Gwiseong, President of the South Market Merchants Association; as well as resident startup teams and related stakeholders.
Jeonju University is actively supporting local startups by operating a total of four startup hub spaces, including 'Moijang' inside South Market, Wedding Street Hub Space, Doonggeunsup Hub Space, and Jeonju University Hub Space.
In particular, the university plans to focus on nurturing aspiring entrepreneurs with practical startup capabilities and building a cooperative model with local commercial districts. This year, a total of 15 startup teams composed of Jeonju University students will move into the 'JB Local Startup Village.'
Kim Sangjin, Professor at Jeonju University and Head of the Startup Support Group, stated, "We expect the JB Local Startup Village to grow into a hub for nurturing aspiring entrepreneurs who will lead local startups," and added, "Jeonju University will strive to play a significant role in creating a sustainable startup ecosystem based on local values."
