The Northern Fire Station of the Sejong Fire Headquarters announced on July 9 that it will carry out fire prevention activities throughout this month, targeting facilities vulnerable to summer fires.

This initiative aims to proactively eliminate major fire hazards such as electrical fires, which become more likely as the use of air conditioning equipment surges during the hot season, and to prevent loss of life and property.

The inspections will cover 231 locations, including apartment complexes, facilities for the elderly and children, public facilities, and temples, as well as 22 multi-use facilities expected to see increased visitors during the vacation season. On-site guidance will focus on five main areas: single-wire connections for outdoor air conditioning unit fire prevention, crimp sleeve connection methods, inspection of wire conditions, and maintaining ventilation in outdoor unit rooms.

In particular, various promotional activities such as sending safety text messages and distributing official letters will also be carried out to raise public awareness and promote a culture of voluntary safety management.

Kim Jeonsu, Chief of the Northern Fire Station, stated, "We will do our utmost to protect the lives and property of citizens through proactive inspections and active publicity," and urged, "Please make sure to follow basic safety rules such as cleaning air conditioner filters, preventing outdoor unit overheating, and refraining from using overloaded power strips."
