Changnyeong County and Korea Water Resources Corporation Sign Consignment Agreement for Old Water Supply Pipeline Maintenance and Operation Management Project

Leak Detection and Restoration, Ensuring Safe Tap Water Supply

Changnyeong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on July 9 that it has signed a consignment agreement with Korea Water Resources Corporation for the "Old Water Supply Pipeline Maintenance and Operation Management Project" aimed at improving aging water supply facilities, and will officially begin the project.

This project aims to reduce water leakage and ensure a stable supply of tap water by upgrading outdated water supply facilities. The total project cost is 49.7 billion won, with 50% funded by the national government and 50% by the county. The project will be carried out over a 10-year period from 2025 to 2034.

The main components include replacing 125.5 kilometers of old water supply pipelines and conducting leak detection and repairs over six years from 2025 to 2030. The project also aims to improve the water flow rate in 16 sub-blocks to 85%. For the following four years, the county plans to maintain the achievements attained during the initial phase.

An official from Changnyeong County stated, "Through this project, we expect to provide residents with a more stable supply of clean and safe tap water," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure that there are no inconveniences in the use of clean water."
