Book Fair to Be Held in Taipei on July 9-10
Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency Has Hosted Overseas Book Fairs Since 2015
Supporting Overseas Expansion of Korean Publications
20 Korean Publishers and 64 Local Publishers to Participate
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency announced on July 9 that they will hold the 'Book Fair on the Go' in Taipei, Taiwan. Twenty Korean publishing companies, 101 consigned book titles, and 64 local Taiwanese publishers and distributors will participate in the event.
The Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency has been organizing the 'Book Fair on the Go' since 2015 to support the overseas expansion of Korean publishing content. This initiative was held in Japan, Indonesia, and Spain last year, and in May this year, it took place in the Czech Republic and Poland.
The 'Book Fair on the Go Taipei' will be held over two days, from July 9 to 10, at the Courtyard Marriott Taipei Hotel. The event will feature 20 Korean publishers, including Wisdom House, and 64 local Taiwanese publishers and distributors, with more than 270 export consultations expected to take place. Eric Yang Agency will be exclusively responsible for export consultations for all 101 consigned book titles.
This book fair will be organized in the form of export consultation meetings tailored to the needs of participating companies. The Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency will provide support in the following areas: discovering publishers and distributors and facilitating demand-driven connections; offering export strategy education for publishing content; providing on-site interpretation; producing online and offline promotional materials; and hosting a seminar on trends in the Taiwanese publishing market.
Taiwan is considered one of Korea's major publishing export markets due to its strong interest in Korean history and culture. Notable Korean books exported to Taiwan so far include "The Convenience Store That Discomforts" (Kim Ho-yeon), "Dallergut Dream Department Store" (Lee Miye), and "The Liberation Notes of My Father" (Jung Jia).
Even after the book fair concludes, the Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency plans to maintain local interest in K-Book by donating the books exhibited at the event to Sejong Institute in Tainan and the National Central Library of Taiwan. Through these efforts, the agency aims to improve accessibility to Korean books and continuously expand the local readership.
A representative of the Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency stated, "The Book Fair on the Go Taipei is an event thoroughly prepared to reflect the needs of both domestic and international participants," and added, "We hope that this book fair will serve as an opportunity for K-Book to become widely known throughout Taiwan and across Asia."
Following the event in Taipei, the Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency also plans to hold the 'Book Fair on the Go' in New York, USA, in September, and in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in November this year.
