French President Emmanuel Macron, 47, who is on a state visit to the United Kingdom, was caught on camera reaching out his hand to his wife, Brigitte Macron, 72, only to be ignored by her.

According to foreign media outlets such as the New York Post on July 8 (local time), President Macron and Brigitte Macron are on a three-day state visit to the United Kingdom.

On this day, President Macron extended his hand to Brigitte Macron as she descended the stairs of their private jet to meet the Prince and Princess of Wales. Brigitte Macron held onto the stair railing as she came down, ignoring Macron's escorting hand and passing by him. President Macron did not immediately withdraw his outstretched hand, but after Brigitte Macron greeted the Prince and Princess of Wales, he awkwardly moved his hand away.

The New York Post reported, "After greeting the Prince and Princess of Wales, President Macron and Brigitte Macron got into a car," adding, "Inside the car, Brigitte Macron did not respond to President Macron and only stared at her phone."

However, upon arriving at Windsor Castle, Brigitte Macron did not refuse President Macron's hand and entered with her arm linked with his.

Previously, during a tour of Southeast Asia in May, Brigitte Macron was caught on camera forcefully pushing President Macron's face with both hands as soon as the door of their private jet opened, sparking rumors of discord. When camera flashes went off, President Macron smiled nonchalantly and waved his hand.

As speculation spread, President Macron dismissed the controversy, saying, "I was just playing around with my wife," and added, "All sorts of absurd rumors are being created from a single video." His aides also told the French daily Le Figaro, "It was a scene that reflected the intimacy between the two, but for conspiracy theorists, it became enough material." Some have claimed, "The rumors originated in Russia," arguing that it was a deliberate online campaign to damage President Macron's image.
