On July 9, Sacheon City in South Gyeongsang Province announced that Mayor Dongsik Park personally conducted on-site inspections of livestock farms in the jurisdiction to prepare for the full onset of summer heat waves.
Mayor Park, accompanied by officials from the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, visited a livestock farm located in Hwandeok-ri, Gonyang-myeon, and thoroughly examined the farm's heat wave response measures.
On this day, Mayor Park inspected the operation of heat wave response facilities such as ventilators and mist sprayers, checked the supply of water and feed to the livestock, monitored the management of temperature and humidity inside the barns, and provided guidance on the safety management of electrical equipment in the barns.
The city plans to continue conducting regular disaster prevention inspections of livestock farms, sending out disaster alert messages, and actively working to prevent livestock damage caused by heat waves and other abnormal weather events. In addition, the city is providing guidelines on management practices to help livestock farms prevent heat wave damage during the summer.
Mayor Dongsik Park stated, "As the number of days with heat waves increases due to climate change, we will do our utmost to respond on-site and minimize damage to livestock farms. We will also create a stable environment for livestock management by expanding livestock disaster insurance coverage and maintaining ongoing monitoring activities."
