Gangnam-gu Signs 'G.G.G.' Agreement with Five Major Builders to Reduce Noise and Dust

On July 9, Gangnam-gu, Seoul announced that it had signed a joint agreement at the district office on July 8 with five construction companies responsible for large-scale construction sites for the 'G.G.G. Practice Campaign and Activation of ESG Management.' The companies participating in the agreement are Samsung C&T, CJ Logistics, GS Engineering & Construction, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, and Hyosung Heavy Industries.

The 'G.G.G. Practice Campaign' stands for Gangnam, Green, and Governance. It was established with the aim of creating a quiet and safe construction environment by proactively inspecting and improving issues such as construction site noise and fugitive dust through public-private cooperation.


Under the agreement, the participating companies will voluntarily conduct pre-inspections of noise and fugitive dust based on a checklist, and will implement proactive site management based on these inspections. The construction companies will submit monthly inspection reports to the district office. The district office, in turn, will provide consulting once every quarter and directly listen to difficulties encountered in the construction process to ensure smooth implementation by the construction companies.


The agreement includes concrete action plans such as complying with all regulations to create a quiet and pleasant environment throughout the entire construction process, installing and operating at least one noise and fugitive dust measuring device at each construction site, and refraining from using outdated construction equipment and machinery.


Gangnam-gu Mayor Cho Sungmyung stated, "When the public and private sectors manage together with a sense of responsibility, residents will definitely notice changes," and added, "We will do our best to create a more pleasant and safe urban environment through public-private cooperation."
