On the afternoon of July 8, due to record-breaking heat, the tracks of the Gyeongui-Jungang Line were slightly warped, causing trains to operate at reduced speeds on certain sections.
According to Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL), at around 5:00 p.m. that day, a slight bend was detected in the southbound tracks near Susaek Station on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, resulting in a suspension of train operations for about 40 minutes.
The minor track deformation was discovered by a train engineer. After an initial response team from KORAIL inspected the site, it was determined that trains could operate, but at a speed of less than 15 km/h. KORAIL is currently repairing the tracks. KORAIL also confirmed that there were no delayed trains.
