"I Want to Achieve My Third Victory Here as Well"
'Queen of Gangwon Province' Han Jinseon returns to her 'promised land.'
On July 10, Han Jinseon will compete in the High1 Resort Women's Open (total prize money: 1 billion won) on the KLPGA Tour, held at High1 Country Club (par 72, 6,544 yards) in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province. Han Jinseon is known for her strong performances in Gangwon Province. Both of her two career victories have come in this region. She achieved back-to-back wins at the High1 Resort Women's Open in 2022 and 2023. Last year, she also finished in 7th place.
Han Jinseon has always excelled whenever she plays in Gangwon Province. Last month, she finished third at the McCall Mona Yongpyong Open, which was held at Birch Hill Country Club in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province. This year, she has missed the cut only once in 14 tournaments. She has finished in the top 10 four times, ranks 10th in average strokes (70.41), 18th in Player of the Year points, and 19th on the money list, demonstrating solid form. She is on an upward trend, having placed in the top 10 in her last two consecutive tournaments.
Han Jinseon stated, "I have a strong desire to achieve my third victory here as well," adding, "If I can keep my shots on the fairway, it will be easier to attack the pins on this course, so I will prepare diligently."
This tournament is held at an altitude of 1,136 meters, making it the highest golf course in Korea, where players can experience the refreshing winds of the Baekdudaegan mountain range. Since its inaugural event in 2009, it has been held at the same location. It has become a representative local festival in Gangwon Province. KLPGA members, season ticket holders, and residents of mining-affected areas receive a 20% discount on admission. Customers who purchase more than 100,000 won will receive a free mini standee on a first-come, first-served basis. All proceeds from product sales will be donated to support young athletes in mining-affected areas.
