Gwangmyeong City: "85.7% Citizen Satisfaction with Municipal Administration"

Announcement of Municipal Administration Satisfaction Survey Results... Highest in Seven Years Across the 7th and 8th Administrations

This year, the level of satisfaction among Gwangmyeong City residents in Gyeonggi Province with municipal administration was found to be the highest in the past seven years, covering both the 7th and 8th popularly elected administrations.


According to the results of the "2025 Municipal Administration Satisfaction Survey" announced by Gwangmyeong City on July 8, 85.7% of citizens evaluated that Mayor Park Seungwon is performing well in city administration. This is the highest satisfaction rate ever recorded since surveys began under Mayor Park's 7th popularly elected administration.

This satisfaction survey was conducted by the polling agency Realmeter over six days from June 20 to June 25, targeting Gwangmyeong City residents aged 18 and older. Samples were randomly selected, taking into account region, gender, and age group in proportion to the population of each district. The survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire through a 100% mobile survey of telecommunications subscribers. A total of approximately 1,000 people responded. The sampling error was ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.


In this survey, citizens showed particularly high awareness of the city's sustainable policies, such as local autonomy, lifelong learning, and the garden city initiative. In questions about policy effectiveness and awareness, respondents gave high scores to Gwangmyeong Sarang Currency (85.4%), Livelihood Stability Support Funds (80%), expansion of lifelong learning support (74.2%), and the garden city policy (71.1%).


Mayor Park stated, "Local autonomy, lifelong learning, carbon neutrality, resource circulation, social economy, and the garden city initiative are sustainable policies for the future of Gwangmyeong. These results are due to consistently implementing all policies with citizens at the center, based on citizen participation and solidarity."


For detailed questions about municipal administration, 77.4% responded positively to "efforts for residents' lives and urban development," 72.9% to "communication with residents," 69.1% to "attempts at new policies," and 61.3% to "impact of policies on daily life."


As for areas that should be prioritized in the future, "expansion of metropolitan transportation and railway infrastructure" ranked highest at 41.9%, followed by "creating a favorable environment for childbirth and childrearing" (33.5%), and "recovery of the local economy through employment and consumption revitalization" (29.8%).


Regarding the expansion of metropolitan transportation and railway infrastructure, 27% cited the prompt commencement of direct connection roads toward Seoul as important, and 26.5% pointed to the establishment of a railway network that would allow access to central Seoul within 20 minutes.


For the top priority in making the city more child-friendly, 38.3% selected "expansion of public childcare infrastructure," while 33.3% cited "creating a safe living environment" as the most important policy for children and adolescents.


For youth policy, 43% identified customized job support as most needed; for the middle-aged generation, 53.0% cited reemployment support; and for senior citizens, 32.8% pointed to the expansion of customized job opportunities as the most necessary policy.


As for projects that should be most urgently reflected in the new government's national agenda, 24% cited the establishment of a new Sincheon-Haan-Sillim Line railway, followed by 19.2% for the development of the KTX Gwangmyeong station area as an international administrative and business hub.
