Busan Port Authority Provides Summer Safety Supplies to 2,000 Port Workers

On July 8, Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sangkeun) distributed safety supplies to approximately 2,000 port workers at Busan Port to prevent heat-related illnesses and conducted a summer safety accident prevention campaign.

The port cargo handling sites are work environments where special measures are required to protect workers' health and safety, as the perceived temperature rises due to sunlight reflected from the concrete floor and high humidity.

The authority provided sunshades, cooling sleeves, and cooling masks to field workers as supplies to help them cope with the extreme heat. In addition, together with the Korea Shipping Association, BPA conducted a joint summer safety accident prevention campaign at Busan Port Terminal Co., Ltd. (BPT).

This campaign focused on encouraging field workers to follow the five key rules for preventing heat-related illnesses: water, wind and shade, rest, cold storage equipment, and emergency measures. Under the slogan "Protect your safety and your family's happiness by following port safety rules," the campaign aimed to raise safety awareness during the hot season.

Song Sangkeun, President of Busan Port Authority, stated, "As hotter-than-average weather is expected to continue this year, we will prioritize the health and safety of port workers and strive to prevent industrial accidents."

Every summer, Busan Port Authority supports the installation of shade canopies, cooling equipment, and worker waiting rooms to prevent heat-related illness accidents at port worksites and is working to improve the working environment.
