Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency Diversifies Genres
AI, Immersive Content, Drama, and Animation Expand Scope
The "Regional Specialized Content Development Support" project, which has been connecting Busan's cultural resources and tourism assets to content, is significantly expanding its scale this year, thereby strengthening the foundation for the industrialization of content in earnest.
On July 8, the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (President Kim Taeyeol) announced that, based on the achievements of last year's pilot project that supported four companies, it has signed new agreements with a total of 20 content companies this year and has begun full-scale production support.
The core of this project is to transform Busan's unique stories and spatial resources into content and link them to commercialization, distribution, and licensing. Notable achievements from last year include: ▲Intelligent Design's traditional art performance utilizing "AI Maegu-gut" ▲Big Pine Animation Studio's development of the character "Nappeun Gyejubae" ▲One Media's local documentary "Yeongdo Story" ▲Camplanet's industrial documentary "Jump Again." These contents were broadcast on channels such as MBC and KBS Busan, attracting significant attention.
This year, the project has broadened its technological scope and is being operated in two streams: the "AI Video Content Startup Project" (10 companies) and the "Growth-Oriented AI Content Project" (10 companies). The selected companies began full-scale development in May, and the final results presentation is scheduled for November.
Major projects include: ▲DM Studio's "Busan Folktale Revived by AI - The Legend of Geumsaem" ▲Supercell's 3D content based on Busan landmarks ▲K-Dragon's AI-integrated OTT drama "Coffee Singong." In addition, various genres are being pursued, such as animation set in the wartime capital and AI-based variety show production.
Kim Taeyeol, President of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, stated, "Last year was a period in which we confirmed the potential for content industrialization, while this year marks an experimental stage that fuses technology and genres. We will continue to support the selected content so that it can expand beyond Busan into the global market."
Outstanding projects will be nurtured step by step, with plans to link them to next year's production support project to enhance their quality and facilitate global expansion.
