Yeongyang County in North Gyeongsang Province announced that it will make every effort to strengthen safety management in order to protect the lives and health of its residents, based on the results of the situation assessment meeting held by the Yeongyang County Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters on July 1, 2025, in preparation for the full onset of the summer heatwave.

In particular, the county is focusing its safety management and protection measures on areas affected by wildfires, recognizing that residents in these regions may be especially vulnerable to the heat.

Additionally, to proactively respond to heatwave advisories and minimize damage, Yeongyang County is making maximum use of cooling facilities such as heat shelters and shade canopies, while also strengthening monitoring activities for these facilities.

Sprinkler trucks are being operated in each town and township to lower urban temperatures, and heatwave prevention supplies are being distributed to vulnerable groups and outdoor workers. For wildfire victims residing in temporary shelters, the county has separately secured air conditioning equipment, drinking water, and rest areas to help them escape the heat.

The information delivery system is also being operated in various ways. Yeongyang County is quickly providing updates on heatwave advisories and response guidelines through multiple channels, including disaster text messages, village broadcasts, and social media. Posters outlining safety instructions are also being posted in heat shelters and wildfire-affected areas to ensure that everyone can easily access this information.

County Governor Oh Dochang stated, "A heatwave is not just an inconvenience, but a disaster that can threaten lives," adding, "We will mobilize all administrative resources to ensure that our residents can have a safe and healthy summer."
