17.5 Billion KRW Allocated Through Supplementary Budget
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province will significantly expand the supply of electric vehicles through a supplementary budget and offer a variety of priority support benefits.
On July 8, the city announced that it had allocated 1.75 billion KRW in its first supplementary budget of the year, aiming to reduce fine dust and improve air quality.
Accordingly, the city plans to supply an additional 200 electric vehicles in the second half of the year.
This year, the city’s total electric vehicle supply target is 427 units, including 268 passenger cars, 157 trucks, and 2 vans. Applications for the second half supply began in earnest on July 1. Applications will automatically close once the budget is exhausted.
Subsidies will be provided in varying amounts depending on vehicle type, up to 12.1 million KRW for electric passenger cars and up to 17.5 million KRW for electric trucks. Eligible applicants are citizens aged 18 or older who have resided in Jeongeup for at least three months as of the application date, as well as corporations and businesses with offices in Jeongeup.
To apply, individuals must visit an electric vehicle dealership to sign a contract, and then submit an application through the Zero-Emission Vehicle Integrated Portal.
This year, additional subsidies will be provided to various priority groups. These include households with two or more children under the age of 18, young adults aged 19 to 34 purchasing their first vehicle as an electric passenger car, and farmers purchasing electric trucks, all of whom can receive additional national and provincial government support.
Other priority recipients include low-income households, people with disabilities, small business owners, and those replacing old diesel vehicles with electric vehicles after scrapping them.
Subsidies will be awarded in the order of vehicle delivery and registration. For more details, applicants can refer to the announcement on the city hall website or the Zero-Emission Vehicle Integrated Portal, or contact the Jeongeup City Resource Circulation Division.
A city official stated, "The adoption of electric vehicles is a representative carbon-neutral action that citizens can practice in their daily lives," and added, "We hope more citizens will use eco-friendly vehicles and join us in creating a cleaner Jeongeup."
