On July 8, Korea Airports Corporation announced that it has renovated the third-floor domestic departure hall at Gimpo Airport to alleviate congestion and improve passenger convenience.
To disperse passenger flow and enhance the operational efficiency of the departure hall, the corporation decided to separate the waiting areas for identity verification between passengers using physical identification cards and those using BioPass. BioPass is a procedure that allows domestic flight passengers who have registered their palm information to verify their identity contactlessly through a dedicated lane. This process is faster and more convenient than the traditional face-to-face verification conducted by security personnel.
Additionally, a dedicated BioPass registration area has been newly established. Passengers who register for BioPass on the day of their flight can now use a separate exclusive lane for quick identity verification.
A priority identity verification booth in the form of a glass booth has also been newly installed for families with multiple children and passengers aged 80 or older. Families with multiple children are defined as households with three or more children, all under the age of 19, and are eligible for this service when at least one parent and one child are present. The corporation also improved guidance signage (display advertising boards) to create a tailored information environment, making it easier for users to locate facilities.
Along with the renovation of the domestic departure hall, the corporation will run a campaign encouraging the use of BioPass until August 18. Newly registered users will also receive commemorative gifts.
