Daegu Seo-gu District (District Mayor Ryu Han-guk) announced that the Ihyeon Park Children's Water Playground, a place to cool off during the summer heat, will officially open on July 17. This year, the facility will operate for 39 days until August 24, and it will be closed every Monday.
This year, in response to the early heat, the playground will temporarily open only on the weekend from July 12 to July 13. Temporary openings may be canceled in case of rain.
The Ihyeon Park Children's Water Playground is a large-scale facility with a total area of 1,040 square meters. It features themed combination play equipment, a large bucket, slides, and various other water play facilities, as well as convenient amenities such as temporary changing rooms and shower facilities. It is recognized as one of Seo-gu's representative family-friendly healing destinations during the summer.
On weekdays, the playground operates six sessions from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 minutes of operation followed by 20 minutes of cleaning per session). On Saturdays and public holidays, it operates one additional session until 6:00 p.m., for a total of seven sessions. The facility may close if it rains or if the temperature drops below 30 degrees Celsius.
The Ihyeon Park Water Playground is free for everyone to use, but infants must be accompanied by a guardian. After every 40-minute session, the water supply in the playground is cleaned for 20 minutes to maintain clean water quality. Safety personnel will be stationed to ensure that visitors can enjoy water activities safely.
Ryu Han-guk, Mayor of Daegu Seo-gu District, stated, "I hope the Ihyeon Park Water Playground becomes a pleasant resting space for residents to escape the summer heat in the city," adding, "We will do our utmost to manage water quality and conduct safety inspections so that residents can enjoy water activities with peace of mind."
