The National Police Agency announced on July 8 that it held a nationwide video conference with police leadership and a briefing on the key policy directions.
Yu Jaesung, Acting Commissioner of the National Police Agency, stated during the nationwide video conference with police leadership that afternoon, "Protecting the lives and safety of the people is the police's fundamental duty," and emphasized, "There must never be any situation where public safety is threatened due to police negligence or indifference."
During the briefing on key policy directions, the following topics were discussed: eradicating livelihood-related economic crimes such as voice phishing; preventing heinous crimes including crimes with abnormal motives; protecting vulnerable groups; and establishing measures to uphold basic public order, along with their respective implementation plans and schedules.
In particular, the agency decided to immediately form a task force led by the Commissioner of the National Investigation Headquarters. Comprehensive measures will include intensified crackdowns, expanding the 24/7 operation of the Integrated Reporting and Response Center for Telecommunications Financial Fraud to 365 days a year, and reinforcing investigative personnel.
