AI startup Dalpa announced on July 8 that it has completed the on-site implementation of the 'AI Smart Estimation Program,' which was jointly developed with Dongwon Construction Industry.

The AI Smart Estimation Program supplied by Dalpa operates by recommending key item unit prices when entering a blank bill of quantities during the architectural bidding process. It analyzes past estimates for similar projects and public unit price data to generate these recommendations. Users can quickly create an estimate by selecting the appropriate unit price from the suggested options.

Previously, it took an average of four personnel working eight hours to complete an estimate. With the introduction of this program, the process can now be finished in just two hours, resulting in approximately a 75% reduction in time required.

Dongwon Construction Industry had recognized that estimation standards varied depending on the personnel involved, and that important know-how was scattered across different files, making integrated management difficult. Through this project, the company has standardized the estimation criteria into an AI-based pipeline, establishing a foundation for systematically integrating accumulated expert experience.

Lee Junbok, AI consultant at Dalpa, said, "We were able to achieve meaningful results by providing a solution that is embedded in the actual workflow of the construction industry, which has long been considered barren ground for AI. We focused on the bottlenecks within their work processes and conducted numerous internal experiments and trials to resolve them. Based on this experience, we will continue striving to expand domain-specific AI solutions across various industries."
