Daegu Police Agency Foreign Affairs Advisory Council Awards 'Hope Scholarships' to Children from Multicultural Families

A Total of 5 Million Won Awarded to 10 Multicultural Youth Dedicated to Their Studies

The Daegu Police Agency Foreign Affairs Advisory Council demonstrated a spirit of warm community engagement by holding a scholarship award ceremony for local multicultural youth.

On July 3, 2025, the Daegu Police Agency hosted the '2025 Hope Scholarship Award Ceremony' at Muhak Maru on the 10th floor of the Daegu Police Agency building, in conjunction with the council's regular semiannual meeting and the inauguration and retirement ceremony for the executive board. During the event, a total of 5 million won in scholarships was awarded to 10 children from multicultural families.


The ceremony was attended by 18 members of the Foreign Affairs Advisory Council, including Chairman Lee Byungseon, as well as 27 scholarship recipients and their family members, adding significance to the occasion. The scholarships, each worth 500,000 won, were awarded to 10 students?6 elementary school students, 2 middle school students, and 2 high school students?who were selected based on recommendations from local family centers.


This scholarship program is seen as a meaningful act of sharing that goes beyond simple financial support, aiming to instill pride and hope in youth from diverse cultural backgrounds. It is particularly noteworthy that the Foreign Affairs Advisory Council fully sponsored the scholarships.


Lee Byungseon, the outgoing chairman, said, "I am very pleased to be able to organize such a meaningful event until the end of my term, for multicultural youth who remain steadfast in their studies and do not lose their dreams despite challenging circumstances." He added, "I hope the scholarship recipients will continue to strive toward their dreams."


Lee Seunghyeop, Commissioner of the Daegu Police Agency, also expressed his gratitude, saying, "I deeply appreciate the Foreign Affairs Advisory Council's ongoing dedication to helping multicultural families and foreign residents settle stably in the local community." He added, "The Daegu Police Agency will also further strengthen its inclusive policing administration."


Meanwhile, since its establishment in 2013, the Daegu Police Agency Foreign Affairs Advisory Council has served as an advisory body for the police's foreign affairs policies and has taken the lead in volunteer and sponsorship activities for foreigners and multicultural families in the region. This scholarship initiative was also organized as part of the council's ongoing commitment to supporting the socially vulnerable.
