Sharing Results of Integrity Consulting
Discussing Improvements in Corruption-Prone Areas
Mungyeong City in Gyeongbuk Province has launched a rigorous internal inspection to restore trust in the public sector and establish a culture of integrity within the organization.
Mungyeong City, Gyeongbuk Province, is holding a meeting to review measures for fostering a culture of integrity.
On July 7, the city held a "Meeting to Review Measures for Fostering a Culture of Integrity" in the second conference room at City Hall, presided over by Mayor Shin Hyun-guk. During the meeting, participants focused on discussing concrete action plans to address corruption-prone factors and eradicate workplace abuse.
The meeting was attended by the vice mayor, directors of bureaus and departments, heads of divisions and offices, and heads of towns, townships, and neighborhoods. They shared updates on the implementation of integrity initiatives across the city and reviewed each department's voluntary improvement efforts and effective measures.
In particular, the city conducted an in-depth discussion on ways to proactively respond to areas with a high risk of corruption, based on an analysis of each department's integrity policy implementation status derived from the results of the 2025 Integrity Consulting Survey conducted in March.
Mayor Shin Hyun-guk emphasized, "Workplace abuse is not a simple civil complaint but a serious issue that undermines the foundation of the organization," and stressed that "senior officials must first reflect on themselves and take the lead in fostering a culture of respect and consideration within the organization."
Starting with this meeting, the city plans to establish a regular integrity inspection system to secure momentum for its integrity initiatives and continue proactive improvements to institutional vulnerabilities.
Additionally, Mungyeong City aims to accelerate the realization of a "transparent and trusted Mungyeong" through effective policies such as expanding workplace abuse prevention training, operating self-diagnosis programs, and strengthening internal reporting systems.
A Mungyeong City official stated, "Integrity is fundamental to the public sector and the highest priority in maintaining trust with citizens," adding, "We will focus all our efforts on spreading a culture of integrity that involves every public official."
