This workshop was designed to lead the digital transformation of the Korean medicine industry and to strengthen data analysis capabilities in educational settings. More than 20 researchers and practitioners with a strong interest in Korean medicine, artificial intelligence (AI), and big data analysis attended the event.
Focusing on network pharmacology-a field gaining attention in convergent medicine-the workshop featured a practical curriculum that combined both theory and hands-on training.
The workshop was divided into two sessions. The first session provided a detailed introduction to the concepts and structure of network pharmacology as an analytical approach to identifying the efficacy and mechanisms of herbal medicines.
In the second, hands-on session, participants used Python to practice building herbal ingredient-target networks, conducting network bioinformatics analysis and visualization, and reinterpreting indications based on proximity analysis.
One participant commented, "It was a valuable opportunity to learn in detail how data analysis can be applied to Korean medicine, and I believe it will be practically helpful for my future research," expressing satisfaction with the workshop.
Kim Sangjin, Director of the Intelligent Informatization Center, stated, "Going forward, the institute will continue to expand educational programs to foster a data-driven research ecosystem in Korean medicine and to nurture practical talent."
