On July 7, the Democratic Party appointed proportional representative Mi Ae Lim as acting chairperson of the North Gyeongsang Provincial Party Committee during its 127th Supreme Council meeting. This decision follows the resignation of Young Soo Lee, the former chairperson, who has moved to a position as secretary in the presidential office.
Young Soo Lee, who was elected as the chairperson of the Democratic Party's North Gyeongsang Provincial Committee during its reorganization in August of last year, served as the chief campaign manager for the North Gyeongsang election headquarters during the 21st presidential election held on June 3. He contributed to the election of President Jae Myung Lee and has since assumed the role of secretary for agriculture, forestry, and livestock in the presidential office under the Jae Myung Lee administration.
Acting chairperson Mi Ae Lim previously served as a member of the Uiseong County Council and the North Gyeongsang Provincial Council. She entered the National Assembly as a proportional representative in the last general election and is currently the only Democratic Party lawmaker representing the Daegu and North Gyeongsang region, where she has been actively engaged in legislative activities. Having previously served as the immediate past chairperson of the North Gyeongsang Provincial Party Committee before Young Soo Lee, she is expected to leverage her experience in party management and her strengths as an incumbent lawmaker to lead a strong performance in the local elections scheduled for June next year.
