This event was organized to officially announce the launch of the technical advisory group, which was established with Daegu Haany University’s Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation at its core, and to explore ways to collaborate for innovation and sustainable development in the regional fisheries food industry.
The inaugural ceremony included an introduction of the technical advisory group, an industry-academic cooperation meeting, a tasting event for E-Mart’s Peacock meal kits, and the opening ceremony of a recipe education program.
During the meeting, the technical advisory group and local fisheries companies shared current issues and future directions for the fisheries food industry. At the tasting event, six types of Peacock meal kits developed by E-Mart using Yeongdeok County’s red snow crab were showcased.
In March, E-Mart signed a business agreement with Yeongdeok County to develop and launch meal kits using red snow crab, expand sales channels, and conduct joint marketing. Currently, the products are sold at 130 out of 137 E-Mart stores nationwide, and cumulative sales surpassed 300,000 units within three months of launch. E-Mart plans to release four new products in August.
With the launch of this technical advisory group, Yeongdeok County plans to foster the Lohas Fisheries Food Support Center as a hub for innovation in the local fisheries food industry and, through cooperation with the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Daegu Haany University, promote various projects to add high value to regional fisheries resources.
County Governor Kim Kwangyeol stated, "The launch of this technical advisory group will serve as a catalyst to revitalize the local fisheries food industry," adding, "We will strengthen industry-academia-research collaboration centered on the Lohas Fisheries Food Support Center to develop a fisheries food industry that provides tangible benefits to the local economy."
