"Kiwoom and Clear Season 2" was an initiative in which all employees of Kiwoom Securities practiced carbon neutrality and greenhouse gas reduction by walking in their daily lives throughout June. Participants donated their daily steps through the step donation platform "Big Walk Application." This campaign was made even more meaningful as it was joined not only by employees but also by members of the general public.
The total number of steps donated reached 242,490,000. In terms of distance, this amounts to 170,000 kilometers. The resulting carbon reduction effect is 22,191 kilograms. This is equivalent to planting up to 3,362 30-year-old pine trees.
A total of 7,265 people participated in the step donation. Among them, 533 were Kiwoom Securities employees and 6,732 were members of the general public. On average, 898 people donated their steps each day. The average number of steps donated per day was 8 million.
Among Kiwoom Securities employees, Sangok Lim, Team Leader of the Fund Unfair Money Laundering Prevention Team, donated the most steps. He walked 30,000 steps every day, totaling 900,000 steps. Lim also donated the most steps in last year's "Kiwoom and Clear Season 1" campaign.
Lim said, "I felt proud that I could contribute to ESG activities while reaching my step goals by waking up earlier than usual to jog or walking to work with a refreshed mind."
Yuseok Song (32), a citizen who participated in the campaign, said, "I have been feeling the climate crisis due to the recent consecutive heat waves. When I learned through my usual walking app that Kiwoom Securities was donating steps to an environmental organization, I decided to join. It was meaningful to be able to protect both my health and the environment through walking in my daily life."
Meanwhile, in line with the achievement of the campaign's goal, a donation of 20 million won will be made to an environmental organization, which will be used to protect the Han River ecosystem. In April, Kiwoom Securities also held the "Kiwoom Run," a short marathon event for both people with and without disabilities, and donated an amount equal to the total participation fee. The donation was used for a disability awareness improvement project.
