'King Sejong Science Culture Camp' to Be Held Three Times This Month in Sejong City

Lectures by Choi Taesung, Lee Sedol, and Others

From July 11 to 16, the 'King Sejong Science Culture Camp' will be held three times as part of the Education Development Special Zone Project to foster students' scientific thinking and creativity. The camp, themed 'Opening the Door to Scientific Imagination with the Wisdom of King Sejong,' features a variety of programs, including lectures by renowned science figures, hands-on activities, and invention education utilizing new technologies.


'King Sejong Science Culture Camp' to Be Held Three Times This Month in Sejong City

According to Sejong City on July 7, the first session will take place on July 11 at Haengboknurimteo in Jochiwon-eup, featuring a special lecture by Choi Taesung, head of the Byeolbyeol Korean History Research Institute, on the topic of future leadership and talent as learned through King Sejong's creation of Hangeul. Science culture experience activities, such as Hangeul craft workshops and a physics class applying hydraulic principles, will also be offered.


The second session will be held on July 14 at Yeominsil in Sejong City Hall, where Lee Sedol, a legendary figure in the world of Go and a distinguished professor at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, along with Lee Jeongwon, vice president of Pebblous, will give a lecture titled 'In the Age of Artificial Intelligence, Grow with AI.' Participants will also have the opportunity to experience programs utilizing the latest technology, such as building climbing robots and inventing with 3D keyring-making workshops.


The third session will be held on July 16 at Haengboknuriteo in Dodam-dong, under the theme of 'Imagination Toward Space, the Future of Astronomy Running on the Ground, and the World Changed by Autonomous Driving.' Professors Kim Sangyoon of Chung-Ang University and Moon Honggyu of the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute will give lectures on autonomous driving and astronomy, and an invention education program featuring an autonomous driving class (building a snail-shaped autonomous car) will be conducted.


This event is open to all students interested in science, and applications can be submitted through the relevant website. Following the science culture camp, the city plans to offer additional programs designed to stimulate students' imagination and curiosity, such as 'Meeting Constellations in Fairy Tales,' 'Fun Science Movie Commentary,' and the 'Sejong Science Exploration Team.'


Lee Yoonjung, Director of the Future Industry Division, said, "Starting with this science culture camp based on King Sejong's scientific spirit, we will continue to promote various related programs that can instill in students the fun of science and a vision for the future."
