Full-Scale Preparations Begin for the "2025 Cheongyang Pepper and Goji Berry Festival"
to Be Held from September 19 to 21
Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province has officially begun preparations for the successful hosting of the "2025 Cheongyang Pepper and Goji Berry Festival," which will be held for three days from September 19 to 21, 2025.
On July 7, the county held a program implementation plan briefing session in the county office situation room with the festival working group and relevant departments, sharing detailed execution plans and coordination points for 34 sub-programs, including performances, promotions, and hands-on experiences.
According to the county, this year's festival will maintain its existing overall direction, but will be transformed into a much more innovative event by incorporating bold and differentiated content.
Exhibition and hands-on programs will be expanded, and the main programs will be completely revamped.
Notably, several programs will be newly operated: "Making a 99-meter Goji Berry Gimbap" will be replaced with "Goji Berry Rice Cake Mosaic Experience"; "Happiness for 1,000 Won: Fill Your Basket with Peppers" will become "Take Home a Giant Fresh Kimchi"; and "Pepper Tower Stacking" will be changed to "Make a Necklace by Removing Dried Pepper Stems."
As a unique experience, a new program called "Find the Spicy Pride Champion" will be introduced to determine the ultimate lover of spicy food.
Participants will taste dishes with five levels of spiciness and compete to be the last one standing. The winner will receive a commemorative certificate and generous prizes.
The "Cheongyang Love Parade" will move its stage inside the festival venue this year, and will feature unique props and performances representing each town and township, creating an even more festive opening atmosphere.
Vice Governor Yoon Yeowon stated, "This year's festival will undergo a major transformation with a complete overhaul of the programs. With thorough departmental preparations and advance publicity, we will lead the festival to success and play a driving role in ushering in the era of five million tourists."
The "Cheongyang Pepper and Goji Berry Festival" is the only festival in the country specializing in peppers and goji berries, where visitors can experience the essence of spicy flavors in a pristine natural environment. It is Cheongyang County's signature local festival, attracting countless tourists every year.
