According to CNN and other US media outlets on the 6th (local time), the death toll has continued to rise as rescue operations proceed, reaching 80 by the afternoon of that day. By county, Kerr County, which was hardest hit, reported 68 deaths, followed by Travis County with 5, Burnet County with 3, Kendall County with 2, and Williamson County and Tom Green County with 1 each. At least 41 people remain missing, including 12 from 'Camp Mystic'?where 750 girls were participating?one of whom is a counselor.

This disaster began in Kerr County on the 4th, following heavy rainfall in central Texas. The flooding intensified as the Guadalupe River, which flows toward San Antonio, overflowed, resulting in significant casualties.

With continued heavy rain, there are concerns about the possibility of additional flooding. Texas Governor Greg Abbott warned at a press conference that strong rain could pour down on the Concho Valley near Kerr County over the next 24 to 48 hours.

President Donald Trump declared Kerr County a disaster area that day. On the social media platform Truth Social, President Trump stated, "I am declaring Kerr County, Texas, a major disaster area so that our brave first responders can immediately access the resources they need. Many lives have been lost, and with so many still missing, these families are experiencing unimaginable tragedy. The Trump administration is working closely with state and local leaders." President Trump also mentioned to reporters at the airport in New Jersey, before returning to the White House, that he may visit the affected area on the 11th.

Following President Trump's disaster declaration, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) also began rescue and relief operations. Secretary Nom stated in a press release, "We are currently deploying FEMA resources to Texas first responders and will work closely with state and local authorities to ensure Texas residents receive the support they need as rescue operations continue and recovery begins."

Meanwhile, Pope Leo XIV, who is from the United States, offered heartfelt condolences during the Angelus prayer at the Vatican, saying, "To all families who have lost loved ones, especially those who lost daughters at summer camp, I offer my deepest sympathy. I am praying for them."

Former US President George W. Bush, who previously served as governor of Texas, also issued a statement: "(My wife) Laura and I stand with the people of Texas as they suffer. We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and suffering so many are experiencing."
