President Lee Jaemyung's approval rating for state affairs has risen for four consecutive weeks, surpassing 60%. The approval rating for the Democratic Party of Korea also continued its upward trend, exceeding 50%.
According to a public opinion poll released by Realmeter on July 7 (commissioned by Energy Economic News and conducted from June 30 to July 4 among 2,508 people aged 18 or older nationwide, using a 100% wireless automated response method, with a margin of error of ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level), President Lee's approval rating for state affairs was 62.1%, up 2.4 percentage points from the previous week. The disapproval rating fell by 2.2 percentage points to 31.4%.
Realmeter evaluated, "The positive assessment appears to be due to the one-month inauguration press conference, town hall meetings as part of efforts to communicate with the public, and the government's intervention measures in response to the SKT USIM hacking incident. These actions demonstrated strong communication and drive in economic and livelihood matters."
By region, support in Seoul rose by 7.6 percentage points, from 53.5% to 61.1%. This is interpreted as being influenced by real estate policy measures. President Lee received a higher positive than negative assessment in all regions nationwide, including Seoul. By age group, except for those in their 20s?where the gap between positive and negative assessments was narrow (positive 47.0%, negative 46.3%)?all other generations showed a much higher positive assessment than negative. Among those in their 30s, the positive assessment rose by 5.9 percentage points to 56.8%.
