World's Largest Haptic Interaction Conference to Be Held in Suwon, July 8-11

The "IEEE World Haptics Conference (WHC) 2025," the world's largest international academic conference in the field of haptic interaction technology, will be held in Suwon.

Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced on the 7th that they will host the conference from the 8th to the 11th at Suwon Convention Center, with over 800 researchers from 20 countries around the world participating in key technology fields such as tactile intelligence, metaverse, and future robotics.

WHC has been held every two years since 2005 and is the world's most prestigious conference on haptics.

Research on haptic interaction plays a key role in future applied technologies such as virtual reality (VR), robotics, and human-computer interfaces (HCI), as well as in cognitive science research on tactile perception, which is why researchers from a variety of fields participate in the conference.

This year's event will feature a wide range of programs, including research paper presentations, demonstrations and competitions of advanced technologies, and keynote speeches.

With support from Hyundai Motor Group and Bhaptics, competitions such as "Haptic Technology for Automobiles" and "Haptic Interaction in Mixed Reality" will be held, and global companies such as Google and Sony will also participate, showcasing over 100 of the latest haptic technologies.

This conference is co-hosted by the Korean Haptics Society and the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, and co-sponsored by the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization and Suwon Convention Center. On-site registration will be available for those who did not register in advance.

A representative from the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization stated, "As a result of our extensive efforts, we are very pleased to have attracted this world-class academic conference to Gyeonggi Province and to hold it at one of the province's leading MICE venues. We hope that by supporting the successful hosting of this event, Gyeonggi Province will further strengthen its status as an international academic and tourism city."
