Trot and Picnic Performances Invite You to Summer in Jangseong
During the peak of the summer heat, Jangseong County in South Jeolla Province welcomes vacationers with water and music. From ground fountains to busking performances and large-scale music festivals, various programs to cool off the midsummer heat are being offered throughout the region. Water play facilities and outdoor performances are centered around Hong Gildong Theme Park and Sangmu Peace Park in Samgye-myeon, while nighttime picnics are also being prepared along the Hwangryong River.

The most popular summer destination is the ground fountain inside Hong Gildong Theme Park. It is a well-known spot visited not only by local residents but also by people from other regions. The fountain operates every Saturday and holiday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until next month. During the summer vacation period, from July 28 to August 10, it will also be open on weekdays. Nearby attractions include the birthplace of Hong Gildong, a wild vegetable experience center, and the Chukryeongsan cypress forest, making it ideal for a day trip.
Sangmu Peace Park in Samgye-myeon features a musical fountain with synchronized music and lights. In July, the fountain operates on weekends and public holidays, and in August, it runs every day, including weekdays. Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends and holidays, and from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays. Sitting on a bench in front of the fountain at sunset, visitors can enjoy an evening filled with music, breeze, and the sound of water.

Every Saturday at 11 a.m. in July and August, the park hosts the "Beat the Heat Busking" performances. Various genres of street performances, including magic, harmonica, Korean traditional music, and bands, are held as part of the official program for the "Visit Jangseong Year." These events have received a positive response from families visiting the Samgye-myeon area for a light picnic.
On August 8 and 9, the "2025 Eoullim Music Concert Summer Music Festa" will take place. There will be separate performances: trot music by Kim Yongbin, Kang Hyeyeon, and Han Taehyun, and band performances by Cherry Filter, Transfixion, and Rolling Quartz. Water cannons and a free water play area will also be available, adding to the festive atmosphere.

On July 19 at 6 p.m., the "Jangseong Summer Night Picnic" will be held at the outdoor stage in Hwangryong Garden along the Hwangryong River. Singer So Chanwhee will perform on stage, and an event will be held where the first 1,000 people will be able to purchase 1,000 glasses of beer for 1,000 won each. County Governor Kim Hanjong said, "We are thoroughly preparing, including securing parking spaces and managing water facilities," and added, "We will make sure that anyone who wants to cool off from the heat can visit Jangseong."
