Sanho-dong in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam held an opening ceremony to commemorate the completion and relocation of the new Sanho Central Senior Center and officially began its operations.
The event, held on July 4, was attended by about 70 people, including senior center members, residents of Sanho-dong, the head of Masanhappo-gu Office, and provincial and city council members, who gathered to celebrate the opening of the new senior community space.
The previous Sanho Central Senior Centers for men and women were built in 1983, and due to safety concerns caused by the aging building and poor aesthetics, members and nearby residents had continuously requested new construction.
In response, Changwon City allocated a budget of 980 million won, conducted architectural design services in June 2024, and began construction in November 2024. After approximately seven months of construction, the project was completed in May 2025.
Kwon Jingu, president of the Sanho Central Senior Center, said, "I am happy that our members can now enjoy a spacious and pleasant senior center," and added, "We will make sure that this new home becomes a place for seniors to spend their leisure time meaningfully and for residents to communicate with one another."
Yoon Hojung, head of Sanho-dong, said, "I hope the newly established Sanho Central Senior Center becomes a gathering place for seniors and a space where precious memories are made. We will continue to provide support to ensure smooth operation of the center in the future."
