This concert was the first official performance held by inviting citizens. Mayor Shin Sangjin took the stage after being introduced by Geum Nanse, the honorary artistic director of the concert hall, and delivered a greeting.
Mayor Shin stated, "This place, which had not been utilized for 28 years, has finally been transformed into a space for citizens," and added, "Seongnam's cultural infrastructure has begun a new leap forward."
Mayor Shin further emphasized, "Starting with the opening of the concert hall, we are also preparing a world-class art museum in succession," and continued, "In order to meet the expectations of citizens who have waited for a long time, we will make Seongnam Mulbit Garden a truly comprehensive cultural complex."

Seongnam Mulbit Garden is being created as part of an urban regeneration project that repurposes the site of a former sewage treatment plant and opens it to the public. Last month, the promenade "Seongnam Dumulgil" opened first, and in September, the concert hall and a cafe are scheduled to open in succession.
