Seoul Energy Corporation Introduces Korea's First "Seoul-type Electric Vehicle Charger Certification System"

Seoul Energy Corporation, in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, is introducing the nation's first "Seoul-type Electric Vehicle Charger Certification System" to enhance the quality of electric vehicle charging services.

The "Seoul-type Electric Vehicle Charger Certification System" targets both public and private open-access rapid chargers within Seoul. It conducts a comprehensive evaluation of 20 criteria across three categories: charging functionality, communication capability, and management functions. Certification is determined through a review by the Certification Deliberation Committee. The certification is valid for two years.

Through this initiative, the city aims to establish a reliable electric vehicle charging environment and expand user-centered charging infrastructure. Certified charging stations will be labeled as "Seoul-type Certified Charging Stations" on major platforms such as KakaoNavi, Tmap, KEVIT, and ElecBerry, as well as on the GildoUmi app, making them easily identifiable and accessible for citizens.

Previously, Seoul Energy Corporation successfully completed a pilot project in February. Following expert consultations, the corporation refined the evaluation criteria and updated the certification manual. As a result, applications for certification will be accepted through July 11. The Seoul-type certification BI symbolically combines the letters 'E' (Energy), 'O' (Electric Vehicle), and 'U' (Charger), representing both intuitiveness and public value.

Additionally, Seoul Energy Corporation has introduced, for the first time in Korea, a simple payment service based on transportation cards using the Mobile Tmoney app. This service is currently available on 327 rapid chargers owned by the city and operated by the corporation. By pre-registering membership and payment methods in the Mobile Tmoney app, users can pay charging fees simply by tapping their mobile phones.

Seoul Energy Corporation plans to expand the service to more chargers in the future and will attach QR code guide stickers to each charger to improve citizen understanding and convenience.

By implementing simple payment for public chargers, we will enhance both accessibility and convenience, and continue to expand citizen-centered smart energy services."
