On-site Inspection of Cooling Shelters and Smart Shelters
As the heatwave warning that began on June 30 continued, on July 4, Yangsan Deputy Mayor Kim Shin-ho conducted an on-site inspection.
This inspection focused on cooling shelters and local heatwave mitigation facilities. Deputy Mayor Kim inspected designated cooling shelters such as senior centers and smart shelters at bus stops, as well as heatwave mitigation facilities including cooling fog systems in parks, smart shade canopies installed at major intersections, and foldable shade canopies.
Deputy Mayor Kim Shin-ho thoroughly checked the operational status of the facilities, whether air conditioning systems were running, and the convenience of use for vulnerable groups. He emphasized, "A heatwave is not just an inconvenience but a disaster directly linked to citizens' lives," and urged, "Please ensure that cooling shelters and smart shade canopies are maintained and operated so that they truly serve as helpful spaces."
Yangsan City is making every effort this year to prevent heat-related illnesses caused by the heatwave, including the additional installation of smart shelters and smart shade canopies, as well as monitoring agricultural activities.
