Hyundai Mobis Ranks 6th Among Global Auto Parts Suppliers... "Supply Chain Shifts Amid Electrification Slowdown"

Bosch and Denso Take Top Two Spots in Global Top 100 Parts Suppliers
Hyundai Mobis Ranks Fifth Among Pure Parts Suppliers for Third Consecutive Year
Delay in Electrification Impacts Sales of CATL and SK On

Hyundai Mobis has ranked sixth among global automotive parts suppliers. Significant changes have also been detected in the global automotive parts supply chain, as battery companies have seen a decline in sales due to decreased demand for electric vehicles.

According to industry sources on July 5, the automotive news outlet Automotive News recently announced its '2025 Top Suppliers' list, in which Hyundai Mobis ranked sixth this year.

Hyundai Mobis Ranks 6th Among Global Auto Parts Suppliers... "Supply Chain Shifts Amid Electrification Slowdown"

Hyundai Mobis recorded sales of approximately $33 billion (about 45 trillion KRW) to automakers. After first entering the global top 10 parts suppliers in 2011, the company rose to sixth place in 2022. Excluding CATL, a battery company, Hyundai Mobis has maintained a position within the global top five pure automotive parts suppliers for three consecutive years.

Hyundai Mobis responded proactively to the transition to electric vehicles, leading to a sharp increase in global orders focused on electrification parts and high value-added core components, which in turn drove sales growth. The report noted that Hyundai Mobis "continues to expand its electrification and autonomous driving parts (such as ADAS and HUD), and demonstrates excellent regional business diversification, with 17% of its business in North America and 63% in Asia."

In addition, bold and sustained investment in research and development (R&D) played a decisive role in the company's rise in global rankings. Hyundai Mobis plans to invest a total of 2.0243 trillion KRW in R&D this year, an increase of 16% compared to last year and the largest amount in its history. The company is also steadily increasing its R&D workforce, which reached about 7,700 people globally as of the first quarter of this year.

Hyundai Mobis plans to continue aggressive sales activities this year, aiming to achieve its order target of $7.44 billion based on its stable global production bases.

Recently, as software-defined vehicles (SDVs) have emerged in the automotive industry, Qualcomm entered the rankings for the first time, while battery companies saw a significant drop in their rankings.

Germany's Bosch maintained its unchallenged first place with $54.3 billion in sales, while Japan's Denso rose from fifth to second place with $47.9 billion in sales. ZF, which previously held second place, fell to fourth with $37.3 billion, while Canada's Magna maintained third place.

Notably, China's battery company CATL saw its sales drop by 15% year-on-year to $35.2 billion, causing it to fall one spot to fifth place. SK On, with sales plummeting 54% year-on-year to $4.5 billion, experienced the largest drop, falling from 32nd to 53rd place.

Qualcomm achieved $2.9 billion in sales and entered the rankings for the first time at 80th place. Qualcomm supplies its Snapdragon Digital Chassis and Digital Cockpit to major automakers and provides advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD) systems.

Among Korean parts suppliers, Hyundai Transys rose three spots to 31st place, while HL Mando climbed four spots to 40th. Other Korean companies making the top 100 include Hanon Systems (39th), SL Corporation (68th), Seyon E-Hwa (79th), Yura Corporation (82nd), and Hyundai Kefico (97th).

Meanwhile, the global top 100 parts suppliers ranking is based on sales to automakers, excluding aftermarket (A/S) sales. It is regarded as an indicator that comprehensively reflects stable production capabilities, order-taking ability, and trusted relationships with global customers.
