Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province, led by Mayor Baek Younghyun, has begun full-scale preparations for the "Pocheon Hantangang World Drone Festival," a global event that links the drone industry with local tourism.

The city announced on the 4th that it held a kickoff briefing in the city hall’s conference room on the 3rd, where it shared the festival’s direction and implementation plans.
The "Pocheon Hantangang World Drone Festival" will take place over four days, from October 9 to 12, in the Hantangang area of Pocheon. The event is planned as a multi-experience festival, featuring drone technology-centered content such as the World Drone Light Show, drone racing, drone soccer, and a drone conference, as well as hands-on programs like the World Food Culture Festival, Hantangang Camping Festa, and cultural performances.
In particular, the highlight of this festival, the "World Drone Light Show," will feature a simultaneous flight of 6,000 drones, making it the largest performance of its kind in Korea. This unique drone show will combine drones, music, and live performances.
This World Drone Festival was officially launched after Pocheon City was selected in March for the drone leisure sports category of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s "2025 Drone Demonstration City Project." The Drone Demonstration City Project is a flagship drone promotion policy by the Ministry, which aims to discover and validate drone service models tailored to local characteristics and needs, foster the drone industry ecosystem, and implement services that citizens can directly experience.
Pocheon City plans to realize its vision as a drone demonstration city and inject new vitality into the local economy through this integrated festival model that combines local resources such as drone leisure and tourism with drone technology.
Mayor Baek Younghyun stated, "The Pocheon Hantangang World Drone Festival is a new festival model that blends Pocheon’s nature, culture, and drone technology. As a city leading the advanced drone industry, we will thoroughly prepare to elevate Pocheon’s status and contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
