Icheon Ranks Fourth Nationwide in Sustainable City Assessment

On July 4, the city of Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, announced that it ranked fourth nationwide in the overall standings of the "2nd Korea Sustainable City Assessment" organized by the Korea Policy Management Institute.

This assessment, which was conducted for 17 metropolitan cities and provinces and 226 basic local governments across the country, was based on 88 detailed indicators that comprehensively reflect improvements in residents' quality of life, future growth potential, and environmental sustainability.

According to the results, Icheon ranked third in the Citizen Happiness City category, fifteenth in the Innovative Future City category, and ninth in the Life-friendly City category, achieving fourth place overall nationwide.

The city explained that it received high marks across the board for its policies to improve living environments and enhance daily happiness and safety for residents, its expansion of industrial and educational infrastructure for future innovation, and its implementation of policies that consider the environment and ecology.

Kim Kyunghee, Mayor of Icheon, stated, "This achievement proves that citizen-centered administration is delivering tangible results," and added, "We will continue to build a sustainable city that citizens can truly experience."
